So while doing homework for my Humanities class I stumbled upon this picture and thought it was quite funny, but not really when you start to think of Trump's idea for reforming immigration. This piece really got me thinking, what is America coming to? Now don't get me wrong, we need to protect our country but I don't think its necessary to build a wall because really it all seems pointless and like it would be a waste of money. Then someone asked me a great question if we put up a wall in Mexico, should we have a wall between us and Canada? I mean the President's whole premise for wanting the wall is to keep "bad hombres" and drugs out of our country, but who says these drugs aren't coming from Canada or that Canadians aren't "bad people". I found his remarks to be very derogatory and hypocritical. So this piece pretty much sums up my opposition to his policy!

I don't often hear about "Canadian drug cartels". But do often hear about Mexican drug cartels. In Canada it is very hard to manufacture drugs year round with their weather. But in the southern countries closer to the equator it is prime conditions for manufacturing drugs. This is why we need a wall. You never read news stories of people crossing the Canadian U.S border with drugs or illegally. But certainly, hear about the many people bringing drugs into the country from Mexico. I think there is a huge problem and do not agree with the president fully, but I don't think comparing Mexico and Canada is a good trade-off. I think immigration is great, I think there should be a bigger emphasis on HB-1 visas. We need smart people in this country. What we don't need is drugs flowing freely across the border. A wall may not be the best idea, but immigration reform is badly needed. Top Democrats even voted for a "Fence" in 2006 (Obama, Clinton, Schumer). I do agree with you about needing to protect the country, and that a wall may not be the best bet. What would you propose to fix out border secruity, or immigration laws?
