Hello my name is Shannon. I live in WV, I have depression. I’m 29 years old, a lot of times it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning. The point of this article is
I hope it helps someone realize they aren’t alone.
It’s hard to do anything. Every thought spiraling out of control. Worried about your Health, bills, family, and friends.
The thing I’m most worried about is my health. I have other health problems other than depression. I also have polycystic ovarian syndrome, insulin resistance, an under active thyroid, spurs in both feet, arthritis, & asthma. For anyone who doesn’t know Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a hormonal in balance that causes your ovaries to be bigger than what they should be with cysts on the outer edges. These cysts often cause me a lot of pain in my abdominal area.
Along with facial hair, mood swings & acne. I’m 29yr old woman. How can I have facial hair?
Waking up every morning looking in the mirror is hard. Growing up with this in high school was not easy. Always worried about what someone is thinking about you as you walk past and the bulling…which is still a problem today. You can see how this might contribute to my depression.
Polycystic ovarian syndrome is more common than you think. It actually effects more than 200,000 women per yr. (2)
(3) Treatment of Polycystic ovarian syndrome can be taking Birth control to regulate menstrual cycles, medicine to control cholesterol, hormones to increase fertility, and procedures to control excess hair.
But also on my part exercise, weight loss and electrolysis.
After I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome, I found out I have an underactive thyroid(hypothyroidism). Having an underactive thyroid means being tired, having mood swings, being bigger in the waist, dry scaly skin, cold sensitivity etc. Having this means you make sure to take your medicine. If not, it could mean I could have a Thyroid storm (thyrotoxin crisis). A thyroid storm: is life threatening. It happens when the hypothyroid gland is left untreated for a long period of time.
What happens is your heart rate, blood pressure, and body temperature can get dangerously high. (4)
When your body temperature gets above 104 that’s dangerous. Temperature going seriously high can at some point effect the brain. (5) Your heart rate sky rocketing can cause Tachycardia.
Tachycardia is also known as (high resting heart rate) meaning the heart shrinks in size and pumps blood less efficiently than it should to the rest of the body. (6)
The treatment of Tachycardia is: Vagal Maneuver’s affects the Vagus nerve. Which helps regulate the heart so blood can move more freely.
Vagal maneuvers are coughing, bearing down, & placing an ice pack on your face. If these do not work? You could need an injection of anti-rhythmic. (7)
So, you see these health problems are dangerous without medications to control them.
Since November 8, 2016 when our new president took office. (9) I have been worrying about what was going to happen to me. When he said he was taking away Obama care? (8) I knew my life wouldn’t be the same. Fearing for my life. The same medications I was taking to help keep me alive were being taken away. Here I sat in front of the tv with no money and no job. The spurs in my feet make it hard to get around period. Spending 2 hours on my feet means the next day my feet will be so swollen I can’t walk.
The depression constantly bearing down on my spirits.
The abdominal pain. Everything in combination makes life hard for me to get out and do normal everyday things. Like working, going to the store, getting out and taking my pictures which I have always loved to do. (10) It’s really hard to do simple chores around the house. Things people take for granted like being able to go out, take a walk and actually enjoy it.
Removing Obama care effected 32 million people. (8)
Obama care worked for me.
With Obama care I was a lot more active. I could go out and enjoy the sun on my face.
Now I look forward to sleep…...
This isn’t living. This is just bidding my time.
I want to live my life. I want to see mount Everest, see the blue waters of the Caribbean, stand beneath some of the bluest skies. Enjoy an in-depth conversation about life with a monk. Taste the finest wine.
I still had so many plans for my life.
The point of this whole article is to show people the truth of how life is and what it was before. Whoever you are reading this article. Imagine if this was someone you knew your brother, your sister, your mother etc. Now what would you do? How would you feel? This is a major problem in the Us.
That needs to be fixed. You are not alone in this. I’m right here going through it with you.
