I actually just watched a TED Talk yesterday that was about an African American University student who worked with Social Robots. The robots could not detect her face, she would have to wear a white face mask in order to do her work, the facial recognition algorithm used in the several robots she worked with (at numerous Universitys) had been introduced to bias when it was first introduced to human faces. It's interesting that the same facial recognition systems are used by police departments all over the US.
