9/11
I would venture to guess 99% of the general public don’t know the basics of what happened on September 11th, 2001. I would further guess that 80% of ‘truth’ seekers don’t know the basics of what happened that day. Lastly I assume there are intelligence agencies and intelligence assets that are promoting and living lies. They’re probably many, are paid well and live amongst us.
On Lying
I’m sure proficient lying is ingrained in the culture of government intelligence agencies and standard protocol for covert operations. It would seem to me that those that are living a lie must have some conscience or at least some sense of bad karma. Sure many ordinary people lie, but fewer are habitual liars and even fewer live a lie. It is natural in society to covet truth as a matter of decency and to improve social interactions. There cannot be justice based on falsehoods and truth is one of the foundations of natural law.
Many may think the ends justify the means and so lying might be acceptable, but what are these ends? To have wars for peace? Use lies to build an honest society? Does that make sense? Why not have peace and honesty today? There are surely better ways with less karmic consequences than living and promoting lies. Maybe some insiders are trapped and can’t find a way out. Maybe it’s just the blood oath you take to be part of the global empire of lies. 9/11 is probably just one of many big lies throughout our modern history so why rock the boat when there is so little to gain and much to lose. Maybe the money is too good. Maybe bad karma is just the price.
Truth And the Steemit Blockchain
The Steem blockchain is great because it’s unhackable, immutable and censorship resistant. The history of all that is written on it will be permanently etched on the blockchain and cannot be altered. So which side of the immutable blockchain history do people want to be on? There will be truth and honest people. There will be lies and liars. It will be for all to see and future generations to judge.
Steemit is a great example of an open community. Yes there will always be some level of lying and deceit, but the openness of our platform promotes a truthful culture. There are going to be those among governments and the powers that be who will continue to focus resources on maintaining the empire of lies. Leave them be. In the meantime, let’s build our own empire based on truth, honesty, integrity and openness on this blockchain. If we do we’ll have a bright future ahead.

Conscience usually catches up to these 'insiders' or the 'people in the know' but unfortunately it happens on their death-bed. Just do a search for 'JFK assassination insider death bed.' There are over 34k results. In our culture, I imagine they keep these secrets out of fear and retribution. But when death, as they understand it, is near... They feel the need to cleanse their conscience before they move on to their next existence.

I'm going to venture and say that the majority of what happened on 9/11 was pure incompetence and then the attempt to cover up said incompetence. Nonetheless, today we do have to remember the victims whether we like one theory or another.
Since your post is about lies, I'll tell you something that's true: During 9/11, while there was mayhem in NYC (irrelevant what we opt to believe it was caused by), Starbucks refused to provide water to the rescuers for the victims for free. Rescuers had to purchase the water from Starbucks. Starbucks later apologised, of course. I know this to be 100% true as a close friend was one of the rescuers purchasing the water.

Ryan Dawson has made to my mind the most thorough investigation into 9/11. He talks about everything that so called "truthers" never talk about. Also I advice to check out his youtube channel. There's great stuff there. He posts regularly.

What would you say is the most reliable source of news that you trust to form your beliefs about 9/11?
I actually spoke with my father about this. It's interesting to think about what we really need to know as the American public.
Did Clinton's scandal affect how he was as a president? I don't think so. I was young, but if I never knew about his personal life, I wouldn't feel cheated as an American.
How much do we really wish to about topics like terrorism? It's interesting to see how a person like Snowden is considered both a hero and a villian.
I tend to fall in the middle. Sometimes I feel that safety is violated by too much data being leaked, but things like Hillary's e-mails leaking are also important to know how foolishly a potential president could be.
Some info being leaked could cause an unnecessary panic, but in general I tend to believe in more transparency if that doesn't cause imminent danger. It's a fine line and I think you made a very thought provoking article @steemrollin

That's up to you to find sources if you want to peel the layers of lies. It's been 15 years so most have moved on and that might be ok. The power of governments come from perpetuating lies so rather than fuel any of the few flames that are left, perhaps it's better to move on and focus on building the future. Perhaps this platform will be a place for discovery, but it may not be the right time for that.
