gerrymandered

in politics •  7 years ago

I am an independent when it comes to voting. I vote for the best person for the job that would represent my interest and values. Sometimes I vote blue and sometimes red. Mostly red.

For many years I voted for a particular democrat because of the good things he did for my community. I liked him for his concern for all his constituents and his rapid replies to correspondence. And I liked his smile.

Last year he was up for reelection and I couldn't find him on my ballot. After some research I discovered that I had been gerrymandered! My congressional district lines had been moved and he was no longer my congressman. I was quite livid.

Not only had I lost my favorite kindhearted and honorable democrat (I know that sounds like an oxymoron), but the one I got due to being gerrymandered is one of the most despicable, loathsome and race baiting jerks on capital hill. He doesn't represent me in anyway.

I guess my only option is to move.
