Misunderstandings about the NFL decision and the NRA

in politics •  7 years ago

Alright...there seems to be a missed connection going on for a lot of people for some reason.
The NFL recently stated that players could not kneel...but they could wait in the locker room.
A lot of people are going on tangents about how the government is now regulating free speech and not firearms....
First... the NFL is a private entity...the Constitution protects you from the government inhibiting your ability to say your piece, praise whatever skylord or lack of that you want, etc. It does not protect you from private entities censoring forms of speech.

Unsurprisingly this is coming from the same people who are saying that the NRA is government funded....and not realizing that the NRA is also a private entity that is funded by its members and other means of income...

Now for the big part... "The government is regulating free speech before they regulate firearms" claim....
If you cannot tell me what the following things are...you have honestly have no right to talk about firearms, their capabilities, or what laws we need:
SOT, FFL, SBR, SBS, AOW, ITAR, 4473, NICS, TTB Regulated, NFA, Hughes Amendment, AR, AK, C&R, RN, FMJ, or LR

For those in the know...before you say something about the acronyms...yes, I know.
