"I believe people with 'ADD' or 'ADHD' are actually geniuses that just need more stimulation for their extra-active brains, which is why the government wants to drug them, in an attempt to shut them up, and ruin their beautiful minds." @thedonfreeman
I'm in two minds about this. I personally think that add/adhd and Autism/ASD are both overdiagnosed, and definitely over medicated. While some of these kids are very intelligent, I think it's more to do with $$$ and big pharma. However, I think 'they' are trying to dumb down the entire population, and pharmaceuticals in general, are just another way of doing that along with flouride, vaccinations, GMO's, chemtrails, etc.

I think there is not enough scientific evidence for checking effectiveness of ADHD drug treatments, but some parents and doctors continue to embrace them because it is the most easy solution and placebo effect usually provide a significant effect. So if I had a child with ADHD I will try to stimulate it instead of giving pills.
On the other hand there is not significant evidence that ADHD drug treatments decreases intelligence of patients.
I do not agree. Not all natural approaches are side-effect free, and medication is usually more effective.
For a lethal illness, a drug with a 50% cure chance and a 10% side-effect chance is safer than a natural approach with a 15% cure chance and a 0% side-effect chance.
For ADHD, according to http://www.cochrane.org/ most drug treatments have low significant possitive effects and significant side-effects so in this case it will not choose medication, but every single drug should be reviewed on his own.
A recent study surmised that the average attention span of most millennials is about 5 seconds....Will the world be able to handle all these geniuses ?
I was diagnosed with ADHD repeatedly. I've been with meds and without meds. And I will say this, I don't know if I would call myself a genius, however, I do have an uncanny ability to multitask, and learn new things extraordinarily fast. When I have taken meds, I've noticed 2 things. I slow down... a lot. But I do have the ability to focus on one thing at a time. And my hubby says I seem far more productive overall. Now, I personally don't prefer that. I actually enjoy being able to multitask and learn new things. The only trouble is that I start so many things, that sometimes without meds, it's easier to forget about a few of them. Haha. Either way, I've never felt dumbed down while on meds for it, but I do think it requires discipline to stay on track without them.
I agree. They act as if it's a problem, instead of thinking that possibly it's the natural state, and could be beneficial. Instead of trying to look for ways to educate on discipline, they immediately want to make it stop.
Absolutely! I was speaking about this the other day. This usually means that there is a gift locked away somewhere that the powers that be dont want to come out.
I don't really know; but forcing one's attention 8 hours per day onto something makes him develop the opposite, as reaction. Similarly, forcing one to do anything makes him unwilling and then unable to do it. And some hypocrites know that.

There are side effects to all medication. A natural approach will always be safer.

Maybe not dumbed down but certainly altered unnaturally under the guise of you being "disabled" in some way.
