Is Government Replacing Religion?
Keep god out of the state, but what happens when the state is the religion?
People from all over the world look to their government to fix their problems. They beseech the government and in all of it’s forms to be the one that would fix the peoples problems. The state has become almost an immortal entity that thrives on the weak. The weakness that the government has been exploiting has been going on for thousands of years. People need something to follow.
In the past we’ve had religion, and for centuries the government has used religion to assert their position of dominance. They have construed the bible and other holy text to fit their narrative. Recently before the abolishment of slavery, they even made a case that the bible and therefor god allows others to be enslaved. Just like any leader with power the time of feudalism and the crusades they made holy orders in collusion with the state to gain the support needed to fight off the Islamic invasion forces.
People that look for things in almost all angles they strive to find answers and the question of authority leave many astray. People seek the answers for the things that make them ill, or the misfortune come their way. In the past, from what I know, about 50 years ago the homeless where able to seek shelter within their churches. With in the community centers without having to look like a bum. They would have a place to go as a community. Cultural shifts and fear of losing one’s property even the church fears this, they have since closed the doors to the truly needy and people that are down on their luck.
People now look to government to solve the problem of poverty. They look to the government as if they have the answer to the people’s strife. In almost all cases of strife or misfortune people hope the government can fill the void of their unaccountable god. Or even the god they may have abandoned. Many of the things that are in the bible contain those thoughts as well but, in the time that the bible was written the kings and nobility are the leaders inherently because they’ve the land that the people would like to work.
Specifically, the united states have a constitution that is raped and changed from it’s meaning continually. Just as the governments have done in the past with religious texts. The people listen to the media they listen to many of the things prevalent. They conclude various things they consume in passing. These thoughts are farther augmented by those in power in a cyclical pattern. That pattern that governs todays society is. An event happens. The media and government issue a story. People consume that story in passing without much critical thinking. They then ask the government to do something about it. Depending on the narrative that was displayed varies on the response that people would like to see happen.
People support things that otherwise wouldn’t be supported. People fear the unknown and would love to have the answers. People that don’t have the answers are easily manipulated by the powerful figures in society. Those people prove to be weak even if they are strong they couldn’t care less. The spread of racism, and other ideological divides. They may come with good or terrible things but the government and the powerful figures in media only care about expressing power grabs. They’ve so far been successful. And still these people that think they are victims, will do all that is within their means to get answers for things that have none to provide, or they’ll ask for change where no change is needed.
With the government’s history, and any government in existence does this. They want more power they get and achieve more power. Controlling societal changes, they control the narrative that we see on television and on the internet, to a lesser extent they brandish the idea that there is dangerous information out there. They do all they can to have their favorite companies do the things they would wan those companies to do. To sensor ideas, is to not like challenge. When people make a case for an ethno-state people ignore what is being said, and they would like others to do the same. Instead of challenging their beliefs much like Martin Luther king jr. has done in the past.
In short, they have high influence on society without any type of factors in play to hold them accountable. Much like a god like figure which he isn’t accountable for things that are done and things that are being achieved. The government is not unlike this, they are essentially an idea that people can’t resist. Now, with people abandoning religion because of some of their logical structure have replaced government into it’s form of their own religion. I believe that is and can be some of the biggest problems that society has faced. Wanting a leader, and not wanting the responsibilities of their actions.
