My feelings on Brexit...

in politics •  6 years ago

Well coming as I do from a small town who’s economy was decimated by the EU’s imperialism, I feel that my euroscepticism is justified. It is neither racism nor fascism to oppose further centralisation of power and I’m certainly no Tory either.

Also the EU is NOT an empire and it is quite ridiculous to call it one. Hard to take anything else you say seriously when you use language like that.

I remain entirely sceptical that any town's economy was somehow devastated by the EU. The UK was the poor man of Europe before it joined in the 70s and has thrived as a member. It is far more likely that Thatcherism (which continued to varying degrees under Major, Blair, Brown and Cameron) was to blame.

I don't need you to take what I say seriously, I lived through that and experienced the effects first hand. Whether or not you believe it makes no difference whatsoever, the facts are still the facts. Also, what you call "Thatcherism" is actually "Neo-Liberalism" something which the EU is not only okay with but is actually a prerequisite for being a member. You don't need to take that seriously either, you can just ask them.
