UN Adopts Nuclear Weapons Ban

in politics •  7 years ago

The UN is trying to ban Nuclear weapons. I say good luck with that. When a nation provides 25% of the total budget of the UN and holds the HQ of said organization the odds of success is low. However I do applauded the UN for trying even if the UN is nothing but a shell.

Thank you for the note, I hadn't heard this!

I'm about as opposed to war as you can get. Nuclear weapons are terrible, and I hope that they are never again deployed.

That said, I'm no fan of the UN, and I am highly suspect of anything they try to do. It is not a peaceful organization, and they have caused as many problems as they have solved. Their attempt at banning Nuclear weapons is probably just a political move, and I highly doubt that Kim Jong-Un will disarm at their polite request, since the threat of nuclear retaliation is the only reason NK is even still a thing.

There is no easy solution to this mess, but there is a lot to be said for the US and UN minding their own business.
