Can Trump Solve the Korea Problem?

in politics •  7 years ago

Donald Trump is set to meet with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong Un, with the hope of ending the Korean War (which apparently is still going, but just on a “cease-fire”) and hopefully averting nuclear war. Plenty of people, from casual citizens to entire news outlets think he is bigly under-qualified for such a task, and could only possibly make it worse.

BUT.

He is also the only sitting American President to go meet with the young leader, and his tactics baiting him have at least opened up the opportunity for a meeting to be set.

So what do you think? Does Trump have what it takes to get it done? Or are we days away from the cold and dark of nuclear winter?

Korea will solve problems by themselves

i don't think that's gonna happen, trump is a business man and kim is a wise man. There would be no productive meeting to that discussion.

The North Korea is so weird really. They have weird rules. I think Trump will have some hard time meeting in half with their president. Let's hope for the best though because there's no prosperity in war.

Only Korea can solve their own problems others should not experiment on other business or soil

Trump deserves the Nobel Peace Prize if he succeeds! He should get Obama
's prize..

I think Kim Respects Trump because they both have huge guts . Obama was too fit for him. Kim and Trump are gut brothers

rodman guts !

The problem with North Korea goes well beyond the scope of any president. Considering Kim has literally starved his own citizens by pouring money into advancements in nuclear weapons, I refuse to believe that Kim is just going to all of a sudden stop and appease the US. Kim's father and grandfather have proven time and time again they don't want to play by Western rules.

Opening up the dialogue between both countries is a start nonetheless, but I think it's too early to say whether or not Kim is willing to meet all of the demands that Trump will have to form some kind of agreement besides the basics like; terms of engagement, missile defence systems on the border and sanctions.

Or maybe Kim is growing tired of seeing his country starve and suffocate due to some of the toughest sanctions that any country has ever had. Maybe Kim is trying to build up his treasure chest and stock up for a long Winter, before deciding to walk away from an agreement and continue on with his nuclear weapons adventure.

simple, he solve problem with another problem :)

I don't think so

I feel like Trump will just make the situation worse than it already is, he's a man that doesn't care about the delicacy of foreign relations which makes him formidable at time and completely stupid at other times.

Trump has to remember you are going over there to persuade Kim Jong Un lay down his weapons and not force him and make relationship stronger, otherwise he'll probably send an invasion force into NK and they'll send a nuke to the US.

All this by America defending their allies near Korean peninsule , are the Korean missiles even capable of reaching US coasts?

The North wants the US Army out of South Korea and Japan, if Trump agrees and gets them out a solution could be possible. I am not counting on it though.

Power is like an explosive: either it is handled with care, or it explodes.

Politics depends on politicians more or less how time depends on astronomers

I think that your president has many strengths a hard character that every president of a country should have and really should talk to try to solve because without dialogue there would be fewer solutions would go straight to a war, at least he will try.

Yes. I hope Trump will make it successfully and win Nobel peace prize.

Remember no prosperity in war.

Lets just hope for the best...
We should use whatever means to avoid nuclear war...cause peace is one of the ultimate
conditions of prosperity and progress... ❤

I think I'll just say cheesecake.

That is seriously the most ignorant, far-fetched nonsense I've read today. Lay off the drugs.
