Well, my friends, it happened, Democracy came to an end last night.
The term "democracy" refers to rule by Democrats and the Democrats lost.
People in the United States are extremely upset with an increasingly tyrannical Central Government. People tend to vote against which ever party is in power.
I expect that Democrats will regain in the presidency again in a future election.
Some people are despondent at the loss of Democracy. I don't think it is that terribly bad. The US Founders didn't want to create a democracy. They defined "democracy" as majority rule. This mysterious thing called a majority can be as tyrannical as an overbearing king.
They followed ancient philosophers and sought a republic that sought thing called "polity." They thought polity would best be realized by a distributed system of government with a limited Federal government.
I decided to generate an image a day.
For this image on the day that Democracy ended, I thought I would ask Night Cafe for an image of the execution of Socrates.
In 399 BC, the Athenian Democracy tried Socrates and found him guilty of impiety.
The problem with Democracy (rule by the majority) is that minorities are prone to suppress minorities. Majorities tend to have a particular distaste for people who examine fundamental issues like justice and ethics.
Anyway, the great fear of the Democrats is that Trump might reduce the size of the Federal Government.
IMHO, the Federal Government has crept outside Constitutional constraints and probably should be reduced.
Advocates of Harris lament that, since Kamala was the primary source of joy on the planet, that the loss of the Democratic Party will suck all of the joy out of the planet. Even worse, since Kamala was the secret formula that would unburdened the world from history the election of Trump will force the world to continue to be burdened by what has been.
Since Kamala was going to unburden us from what has been, then Trump is the evil person who will re-burden society with what has been.
Okay, I've never been able to decipher any of Kamala's word salads.
While I am not eager to see a repeat of the Trump administration. I am happy to wave bye to Biden, Harris, Schummer and company as they have been really bad for this nation. Leaders that pretend that they are the voice of the people are as bad as those that falsely claim to be the voice of god.
The best form of governance is one that is limited, that protects the rights of minorities and the defenseless. The best governments tend to be distributed.
While Trump might be a blow hard. His efforts to drain the swamp might lead to better governance.
