Chronicles of Venezuela's agony: He goes alone with his shadow while they set a decoy for him. To the Shadow Photo Contest-Round 53- One or Two People Shadows

With my old Samsung phone and some fear I took this picture in the middle of the Bolivar Square in Caracas, Venezuela, near places that are strategic to those who today usurp power, some blokes who claim to defend the people. The man is marching toward an uncertain future. His slim body, his cheap shoes and his handbag made at home and containing, if anything, a few foods, are preceded by his shadow that extends over the marble floor that has seen so much history. In the background, a brigade of young people who call themselves volunteers but who are surely there because they hope to make a profit, such as a bag with a few foods, carbohydrates and, if possible, some legumes, lentils imported from Turkey, perhaps. They wear red t-shirts, the emblematic color of the Bolivarian Revolution, and they try to comply with military protocol. Attention, firm! surely said the little soldier on the left, before giving the word to the man who looks like an evangelical shepherd in his beige shirt and who spoke wonders to the lads about the paradise that Hugo Chávez descended for Venezuela. Man and shadow pass by, perhaps without knowing the trap he's in.
