While members of Tamarod – the sponsored anti-Morsi protesters used the Tahrir Square as their base, the pre and post-coup Morsi supporters gathered largely outside Rabia al Adawiya mosque in Cairo demanding the re-installment of Morsi. This gave birth to the Rabia sign (from the name Rabia al Adawiya) used as an identity and solidarity sign by the pro-Morsi group as against the common V sign used by opposition protesters. The Rabia sign (done with the four fingers straight up and the thumb overlapped, since Rabia means four) eventually became more popular than the V sign and this became a worldwide identity of Morsi supporters protesting at Rabia al Adawiya Mosque. As the Rabia sign became more popular, so did the infuriation and iniquity of El-Sisi and his dogs. On July 27, security forces and armed men in civilian clothes raided this mosque killing 80 Morsi supporters……. It was a “bloodless” coup indeed.

In the wake of this daylight robbery of democracy, one would expect a unanimous condemnation of the coup and its plotters by the international community; unfortunately, it was a widespread conspiracy of silence by the “world police”. That shouldn’t be surprising. After all, the media has done a great job in manipulating the mind and standpoint of the political illiterate with its widespread misreporting. The massacres committed by el-Sisi and his malignant henchmen were reported as violent actions by the Muslim Brotherhood and Morsi supporters. The junta had only followed the tune of the trumpeters with a dance of the Maccabees. Any big deal? It was blasé therefore when the United States came out on August 1 through her Secretary of State, John Kerry and described the coup as a “restoration of democracy”.

As if the vampirism was not enough, the greatest post-coup massacre ensued from the clash between Morsi supporters and the police on August 14. The latter raided the former’s camps at Rabia al Adawiya and Al Nahda square and brutally killed thousands of Morsi supporters. Several hundred others were killed on august 16 – the “Day of rage” at rallies across the country. Yet another hundreds at the Fateh mosque in Cairo on August 17. Amidst the widespread brutality, El-Sisi boldly came out on August 18 and stubbornly vowed to continue the clamp down on the anti-coup protesters including the arrest of top leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood. In a shocking move lacking any legal basis, the Brotherhood was banned on September 23 and declared a terrorist group on December 25. Clashes never ceased to happen until the interim head announced a restrictive new protest law on November 25, banning all forms of protest across the country. This malady continued till indefinitely till 2014 when El-Sisi finally emerged the president. Hundreds of Morsi supporters were sentenced to death and daily clashes remain evergreen.

Expectedly surprisingly, the world seems to be blind, deaf and dumb to this tale of the Egyptian vampires, all thanks to the media ambivalence and machination. The total casualty from the pre and post-coup violence was put at over 20,000 lives, 16,000 imprisonments, and uncountable injuries. The media successfully mislead the world to the conclusion that the pre-coup protests were largely anti-Morsi, it, however, couldn’t with the post-coup massacre. Of course the protesters couldn’t have been anti-Morsi again; after all, their mission has been accomplished. The new strategy, therefore, was to hoard the news from the people. Little wonder why the genocide at Rabia al Adawiya on August 14 which alone accounted for about 2600 deaths and 4000 gory injuries was hardly reported by any major print or electronic media. Not even a single Nigerian newspaper reported the event. Indirectly, I was a victim of that media conspiracy as none of the sources of my daily post – “THIS DAY IN HISTORY” recorded the event save my personal note.

The tragedies from the days of Gamal Abdel Nasser might have become evanescent in the memories of the Egyptians, but somehow, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is perfectly reliving the legacy of his forefather.

In conclusion, the fact remains that Egyptian are still being led by a Pharaoh in different clothing. El-Sisi has suddenly turned a vampire of Nasser who himself was a vampire of several previous Pharaohs. More unfortunate, the present Pharaohs treacherously possess more evil and danger than their predecessors. The chronicle of the past pharaohs recorded the evil as evil and the good as good. Disappointedly, the present day media has become a weapon of the devil itself, hoarding and distorting information, thereby presenting the Pharaoh as the Moses and the Moses as the Pharaoh.
