LONDON, Feb 26 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs-backed payments company Circle has acquired U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex, Circle said on Monday, in an effort to cement its position as one of the leading companies in the world of blockchain technology.

“We’re proud to announce that Circle has extended its commitment to a new vision for global finance by acquiring Poloniex, a leading token exchange platform,” founders Sean Neville and Jeremy Allaire wrote in a post on the company’s website.

Boston-based Circle operates its app-based peer-to-peer payment network using blockchain, the technology which first emerged as the system underpinning cryptocurrency bitcoin. It is also one of the leading players in the over-the-counter market for bitcoin trading.

One of the most well-funded blockchain startups, its investors include Goldman Sachs Group Inc and Baidu Inc .

This does not sound good. So I think it's time for me to move my altcoins to other places.

Suggestions?

Poloniex....
I WOULD RATE THIS EXCHANGE AS A SCAM. I transferred Eth to Poloniex and it did not show up in my account. I logged a ticket with Poloniex 3 days ago, but no reply. Infact, the ticket I logged 2 months ago still has not received a response. This is a very risky exchange to send crypto to, there is a good chance of losing your funds. They clearly do not provide customer support, so if something goes wrong, you are on your own. After this happened to me, I searched if it had happened to anyone else and found hundreds of similar complaints. I am still unable to confirm if anyone eventually received their deposit. I will not use this Exchange anymore...
@pagandance sir...
Wel done and perfect work...

Poloniex is a shit exchange. They will not notify you about any update & will block all your transaction. I am waiting for last 2 Months & they are not fixing my issues related to Siacoin & Bytecoin.
This exchange is a scam, 0 support!

Instead of exchanges holding them onto ledger would be perfect but for trade I often use Bittrex and Binance !

bittrex.com is best

time to move out bittrex is good

Good post, I think your alt coins decision is good

Come and trade on bittrex.com i'm trading there for long time already and very satisfied

If it not sounds good then go for alt coins on other place is right thing

@pagandance,
I think Bittrex is a good option! Binance also good too!

Cheers~

i didn't even checked poloniex for months its the worst exchange ever

Lykke is worth a look, its not quite there for traders, but for ordinary folks just wanting to trade direct Fiat to every coin thy carry its good

I just one suggestion of you.You can go to bittrex.com.It's a best exchanger and wallet site. And little more expensive but You can exchange all cryptocurrency coin .

doesn't seems good now poloniex to me time to opt out

@pagandance - Sir I'm using Bittrex... I think it's better than Poloniex Sir...

+W+

poloniex is going in crisis now. there are some problem nowadays. so we should be careful about poloniex

i have already moved from it it is a shit exchange they will not notify anything for us so better to look for alternatives.

No where that I am aware of has lower fees that Poloniex, but I stopped using it some time ago as fees were not enough to justify some of their other flaws. That was before Goldman Sachs acquired them.

I use at the moment:
bittrex.com
binance.com
coinbase.com

Binance being newer has some cool things going for it including its own Binance Coin (BNB) that if you use for fees they chop fees to 50%.

There are a ton of exchanges out there, but I personally use Bittrex and Binance.

I think if you decide to move your assets, then it's best for the Bitfinex, but of course the last decision is yours! Thank you @pangandance

Thanks for the update bro. This worries me a bit but will wait for a few days to see what's next on their plate.

when investors from out side of crypto who don't even understand it buy something this has to happen

i think we all save some coins cz in the future we don't know what the market prize is going to be...😉

Im not sure why you think this is bad, at least its got some backing now with a large company.

I guess your thinking long the lines on 'institutionalized' which goes against the grain somewhat?
