A few days ago, Scott Wallace proposed a law to tax families for having more than 2 children. To address a point which was not covered in my previous post, countries which fail to maintain their population will fade away. Sweden in one country grappling with this dilemma.

Official data from Statistics Sweden SCB provides a clear picture of Sweden's dire future.

The fertility rate of native white Swedes is much lower (1.6) than the country’s overall fertility rate (1.9);

The Swedish parental system fails to deliver more babies;

The number of children with an Islamic name is growing at a fast pace. Since 2010 it has increased by more than 30%, so that now around 8 to 10% of the newborns in Sweden have an Islamic name.

The native white Swedish population will be a minority within a maximum of 40 years. The same source shows that 22% of the newborns have a non-Western migration background.

A country can have plentiful resources in terms of food, water, source of energy and abundant land for homesteading (NOTE: I am not saying this is the case for Sweden) but if the country hasn't the population, their nation will be taken over by another culture.

There are many reasons that over population is undesirable the main one being depletion of a country's resources. As with all tangible things, too much of something is not a good thing. In economics, there is a law called the diminishing returns. A brief explanation of this law, accumulation of one type of thing whether it be an asset or a commodity will diminish the value of a thing as more of it is accumulated. Human life can be considered a resource, so after a certain level is reached adding to the number will diminish the overall value. Conversely, not having enough people will result in a country failing due to lack of humans to manufacture or produce enough goods to support the country.

Sweden is not the only country facing this problem. Japan is another country where the average age of the population is nearing old age and the younger generation is not producing enough births to replace the aging population. Russia about 10 years ago, recognized this problem and was offering younger parent a financial stipend for having more children.
