REDDIT USER STORED 2 MILLION GIGABYTES OF PORN IN AMAZON'S CLOUD STORAGE TO 'TEST' HOW IT WORKS

There was a time when we had hard drives, the size of coffee machines and capable of storing only 150 MB of data. Now, USB drives, the size of a nail store as much as 128 GB of data.

We have come a long way. Mostly, due to our urge to innovate. And some of it, to save porn in a better way.

Remember how we used to hide those CDs in the darkest corners of our rooms? The same corners which were known to our parents for strange reasons.

These CDs then found their way into 'New Folders' under study material. For every '90s kid, watching porn used to be a struggle due to three Nos -

No internet
No smart phones
No money
And now, they have the cloud. A virtual database where you can store whatever the hell you want and nobody, except Google can know about it.

With cloud storage on the rise, every other platform is trying to give their best shot at it. Amazon too did it with their unlimited storage plan.

They clearly underestimated the power of a horny Reddit user who goes by the name Beaston 02. To test the upper limit of Amazon's unlimited storage plan, this dude uploaded almost one petabyte (1 million GB) worth of porn.

Beaston 02 pulled this off by compiling a code that would record public shows from adult web cam sites like CamSoda, Chaturbate, and MyFreeCams. This was his post on reddit -

"It is nearly entirely porn. Ever since I got into computers, I found myself learning more, and faster when it was something more interesting. Call me crazy, but women interest me more than most other things on the internet and there is a huge amount of data being created daily, so it was a good fit for the project."

He stopped at the 1.8 petabyte mark and made his collection available on GitHub. To continue his project, Redditors have started a thread called The Petabyte Porn Problem where they discuss further possibilities.

Just to give you a perspective, Beaston 02 uploaded almost 293 year's worth of porn. Here's the math - On an average, a 720p video would constitute to almost 2 GB per hour and if the quality is 480p, it would roughly be 0.7 GB per hour. If you consider 1.8 petabytes, the number of hours constitute to almost 293 years and six months.
