As we all know, time in the attention economy is money.. let's keep it real we all look at the rewards! Just like we all (most of us honest folk) look at porn. Though I do have to be brief today as my attention is especially expensive on the Sunday morning of mommy's bday weekend.

So I've been observing and advising over at @dporn pretty much since it's inception and all the way through it's hick ups and downs along the way. They are a good bunch, a really genuine and generous sub-community of Steemit and mainly supporters of the libertarian mindset. Naked people in general are much less judgemental in my opinion and nicer to spend time with whenever I can.

So they just had a big refresh and overhaul of the old website. It is by the way a STEEM based porn video hosting site for those who didn't know. Yes of course we all know the internet does not have enough free porn it seems, so we may as well do our best to embrace and support those who are genuinely creative rather than further marginalize sex workers and thus perpetuate the ridiculous sex shaming culture of the modern slave race mentality.

Back to what I was saying. Time is valuable. Right. Ok so I wrote a comment, hit post, reread it and though shit! That's a lot of words. Figured well shit done it now. May as well copy, paste and rework it into it's own post on my feed. Every little helps, spread awareness and help inform others who may not be looking in the direction of the dirty, disgusting, deviant types.. no not us porn people, I mean the PIRATES who rape and pillage our content.

No matter where you are on sex and adult entertainment, if you're here on this platform you most likely can call yourself a content creator. As such you can relate to what it is like to put your time, effort and passion into creating something. Then also the disheartening, gut wrenching feeling of seeing it stolen and monetized by someone else who you've never even met or spoken to. Thanks for the free advertisement and unwanted promotion.. I guess? Smdh 😔

In my experience, first question any serious content creator asks any platform they intend to publish on is what are the protections against piracy and ensuring rewards go to original content creators.

Many won't even bother to ask if the platform already clearly hosts low quality pirated content. In essence that is the same as any illegal tube site startup. The highest quality affiliate content supported on the main tubes today is generally approved from the production houses to be used on those heavily affiliated sites.

Even so these pirates (and mostly bots) have dominated the free porn tube space and stolen content from many indie producers indiscriminately and is in my opinion disgusting. That is not the best use for a STEEM backed porn platform to imitate, especially one that claims to be community lead. The thieves have worked tirelessly to reverse their poor reputation within the industry and erase their heavily pirated history. Most do not even recognize them today as they sponsor most industry events and drive 90% of the revenue generating traffic.

The current potential post rewards of STEEM do not inspire, even using bid bots. The main tubes new user uploaded programs comparably are appealing to indie producers only because of the sheer traffic volume built of the backs of the content that was blindly pirated.

At best as I recall their programs payout in the region of $0.01 cent per 1000 views on the "premium" hosting platforms. Which still seems a long way from where we are now. This is also an incredibly abusive fraction of the revenue generated by the ad space on their video pages alone, not including up sales to the network of approved affiliates.

So these are the biggest hurdles in my opinion for the @dporn onboarding goals. Protecting content creators as well as those who view/support them will be the best "marketing" for any community based opportunity like this to gain significant traction in my humble opinion.

The simplest way to get that off the ground is to petition high stake holders (whales) to delegate and back a @dporn curation process that targets misuse of the platform.

This of course takes trust and is wide open to human flaws, misuse, favoritism and prejudices. Which of course is a pooling of influence/power and equally challenging for the decentralized community to adopt.

Particularly those who have been stolen from and abused so much by tech pimps until now. I feel I speak from the many discussions I have had regarding blockchain publishing with the numerous cam models from my studio as well as mainstream porn performers. All of which potential creators here, once we have a feasible crypto-backed solution that can be trusted.

There is a massive demand for this and as yet no real solution from the blockchain. Many of us currently harbor our efforts in clips sites and live streaming avenues. Happily bleeding upwards of 40% revenues to simply be protected from piracy.
