The Sounding Portugal #1 - The new Fado Generation

Dear Steemians,

In this new series I want to introduce to you the musical culture of my Country, Portugal.
Being wildly known due to Fado, one of the many genres in Portuguese musical culture,
this series won't focus solely on the "typical" Portuguese style of music, but will present some great artist
in the most diverse styles possible.
Stick with me for an amazing musical trip.

I must add that I do not own any of the following music; My purpose is solely to entertain the readers/listeners.

The Sounding Portugal #1 - The new Fado Generation

To open up this series I'll start with one of the most innovative Fado singers of this generation: Ana Moura.
Known for singing with the Rolling Stones and with Prince, which really liked her style,
Many Fado Lovers will disagree, but to me, the really amazing thing about Ana Moura, especially the double album
"Aconteceu: à porta do Fado/Dentro de Casa" in wich she devides it in one CD with a more traditional take on
Fado themes, and another CD including songs with a pop structure and feel, but still with that Fado aura around,
makes what I think to be the most genuine orientation of this knew Fado Generation

I'll leave you with one of my favorite songs from this album, "Por um dia" with Jorge Fernando, and with a more recent song that got really popular "Dia de Folga"
and confirms the fado-pop direction

In my next post I'll explore another peculiar direction that Fado is taking. But don't despair yet if you don't like Fado
there is plenty o Rock, R'n'B, Pop, Blues, Metal, Alternative, Electronic... in this country than meets the ear...
