The seven seas are your domain
You rule it as befits your station
King Poseidon of the marvelous trident
And the retinue of dolphins
They sing their song for you
A cetacean dream they share
A paean in your honor
A wonder to hear as they seek each other in the sea
Playfully the ply the waters
Saving men from disaster
In honor of their king
Their glorious lord of the waves
They hunt in the wilds of the ocean
Feared by man and fish
With teeth of nightmares made
And a sinuous and streamlined beauty
They are strong, these creatures
They swim in your waters
Alive and vibrant in your glorious wake
The seas where life began
O Poseidon, hear me pray
With saltwater and the meat of my catch
Set upon this altar of sand and stone
Where the dry land meets the salten sea
O Poseidon, grant my hopes
That we may be connected one to each other
By wisdom that flows like water
And the generosity of heart and spirit
O Poseidon, grant my dream
A dream of a better world
And as a people come together as one
In defiance of hate and anger
O Poseidon, shake the foundations
Let us be changed as the sea changes
Let us be shared as the sea is shared
Let us be fruitful as the sea is fruitful
O Poseidon, hold your anger
For we are but children seeking to learn
And the ways forward are clouded
And the lessons most hard
O Poseidon, blessed be
With thanks and hope, I pray
My gratitude forever sincere
Lord of the seas, blessed be
