So I see my last review or should i say blog of "The Last Jedi" did not go over well. For this I am truly NOT sorry.
I am not here to get click bait or to blow sunshine up your ass because its popular. If you want that turn on cable news and leave this wonderful free format place I have found. I am hoping you will see my movie reviews of older "great" and " not so great" movies to find out why it is I disliked movies like the Last Jedi without spending 17 minutes of your time watching a clip review or reading a two page blog.
If you base a movie on actors and actresses for quality, you will most likely like 50% of the movies you see.
If you base your movies on Genres like"Comic Book or Sci-Fi" you will like more than 70%.
But I watch all kinds of movies except most "Comic Book" films. Why because I like a lot of different types of films.
As a reviewer I want trust and If I am not honest each and every review, you the customer will not appreciate me or listen when I tell you to run.
Take for example a movie called "The Post", the movie is a good story, has great direction and has a really great cast including Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.
It made 177 Million at the box office, but that does not make good,it just means that a lot people went to see it.
The Washington Post, ABC,CNN,The New York Times called it: inciting, exciting, a Thriller beyond the screen.
Well the Washington Post parent company as well as ABC, and The New York Times were all part of the Production Money for the film. As a Matter of fact 10 companies had to pull together just to make the movie. I ask you if it was such a great script and a great cast and wonderful direction, why did not one company pay for it? It is a hit before it filmed according to the WAPO.
Answer because they knew what I suspected, people paid to see Meryl Streep and the most gifted and talented Tom Hanks and were in the end as disappointed as I was in the movie.
The exit reviews were less than stellar, averaging 1 Star, which is what I gave it.
So it made money and its a new release on Vudu for sale at 2.99 a view,
Molly's Game on the other was reviewed with mix results and the exit reviews were 4 out of 5 stars and is 5.99 a view right now.HMMMMMM.....................
The results speak for themselves, you can take a turkey, cook it, put fresh roasted corn and mashed potatoes and gravy on the plate, add some black olives and by the time your done finishing the meal realize, the corn is bad, the potatoes mushy, the olives are salty and the bird is dry and even the gravy that Mom always makes looks the same, but she had to use an older can of base and too much fat and pepper and tastes like shit.
That's what The Last Jedi was...shit the scenes were jumpy, and Carrie fisher floating through space was too out there, the imprisoned kids, that weird Glasses creature and the rogue thief who can escape jail but is still in there when our team arrives, once chased by hundreds the rogue thief shows up and posing like Captain Morgan" saves the day! whee WTF? really dude, you leave your bridge in the middle of a chase or a POSE? and whats with the 32 seconds scenes and short dialogue. Your audience has a brain.Let them use it a little.
It really hurts, because I really like good drama and good sci-fi and I promise to let you know when I see one.
Thank You
