If you take the potato out after cooking it for the first five minutes and let it rest, it will keep cooking on the inside. Let it rest for a minute or two. Then season it with butter, salt and pepper (and cheese). Then put it back in the microwave for two minutes or so. Cooking time depends on the size of the potato. I've cooked many potatoes this way.
