One thing that I like about my son's school is for fun days of crazy HAIR day, crazy HAT day, dress up as book characters, twins day, etc SO MUCH FUN!
Maybe not so much for the parents because then they are the ones that have to go shopping for materials, making the costumes and accessories and whatnot, I mean, if you only have 1-2 kids, seems doable :P Imagine if you have 5 school kids at the same time, go to the same school. You gotta prepare 5 costumes, etc. That would take so much time and headache :P (well, unless a couple of them are at the age where they are able to lend a hand). Not to mention, in my son's school, there is also gatherings or party in the class now and then, or for example, with the coming Easter, goody bags exchange, where you have to prepare as many students in the classroom, then times 5, since you have 5 kids, and differ class has differ amount of kids. BOOM. Bankrupt :P
Anyhoo.
I like this kind of fun day, but I feel for parents with kids more than 3 :)
One of the crazy hat day that I made my son was this froggy hat! Nothing too complicated, and all materials were from Dollarstore, so it was light on the pocket too :)
My sons have tons of toys that they never really want to part, so their playing room is really like a museum. Occasionally, I can find them to be useful, those toys and stuffies, for arts and crats - grins
At Dollarstore there are tons of fun hat, regular hat, whatever hat, ranging from $1.50 to $4, we grabbed a Canadian hat and also googly eyes, a bag is plenty. Thought I was just gonna hot glue them all over, along with monkey stuffed toys. So it would be like monkey see, monkey do theme. But too bad, we could not find more monkey stuffed toys, so one would be weird.
Dug up more stuffs in the basement, and grabbed these plastic balls and a pair of stuffed toys, thinking it would be frogs in a pond theme, with the balls as the water bubbles.
Was gonna sew the stuffed toys and hot glue the balls, but darn balls did not want to stay, due to the material of the hat, most likely.
In the end, we just had the frogs on the hat, and that was it. Not too crazy, but good enough (especially if you have to prepare 5 of them ;-)) Easy peasy, no lemon squirting to your eyes to feel uneasy ;-)
The boys at least had fun with the hat, even father did too. We had some fun photoshoot with it, or rather silly photoshoot, so am not sharing them :P
There you go. SUPER EASY idea for you to diy, should you have crazy hat day for your littles at school :D
I remember one Halloween, we glued googly eyes all over plastic table cloth we got, and hung it on wall, just by the entrance door. so when trick or treaters came, we opened the door, that was the 1st thing they would notice. lol
Super cool fun hat, it’s awesome the school does super fun things like this - my boy’s one only really does either no uniform where they can where clothes or dress to a theme.
believe it or not, i live in a rather small town, where in its prime months, we would see 20-25 K top, but when its low season (its oil town), there are only about 18K people, supposedly.
but the birth rate here is the highest in the province! many families have more than 3 kids. Quite a few families I know have 4 if not 5.
we also have a lot of Mennonites, and they would also have around 4-5-6 if not more kids.
very fertile water and land ;-)
it was a shock tho when we just moved up here. but now we are used to it lol
