After a late night two nights ago accompanied by little sleep, last night I found myself in bed by 10:30, the hairs graying on my head as I dreamt of other lands while my friends were out making the best of decisions. Due to my early bedtime, I woke up at about 5:45 this morning, and got to experience the magic of dawn in March.
Living in the Midwest, spring signifies a big change in the mood for many of us. Hibernation is over, and the life that starts to bloom is just breathtaking. The birds were chirping, the sun was just starting to peek out, but making its presence known, as though to remind us that its still there, ready to spread aliveness wherever possible. The tranquility of the stillness combined with the influx of life all around was pure bliss, and a reminder to take in the small things. A simple morning turned into magic.
If you can, try to wake up a little earlier tomorrow and soak up the beauty. Bask in the stillness, and the life that interrupts it. No matter what's going on in the world, there's enchantment waiting right outside.
"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits.
