A little bit existential

This one's a little bit existential and can be read while drinking a cup of coffee...

Sometime later, in another place where the birds were waking up, a certain nubile perfection, self-certified, came by and called out:

“Whose idea of a good time are we having?”

This was perplexing to say the least, to coin a well-used phrase that seemed to fit in just so.

A half-starved can of worms over in the dark side began to rumble and make funny noises at this, and fifteen spelling mistakes also groaned as if to say:

“We have fallen past our twilight with the candle flickering in its doom, words that were once hasty that now eat up the tomb.”

“In that case we will not have you in our dreams,” said the empty sigh approaching silently to be heard.

And then the fuse burst and all went dark.

“Can I have my excuse back please, before I forget it?” said the empty sigh in the darkness.

“Is that all you want?” said a voice from the dark, disguised as the shadow.

“Well now that you mention it, I’m looking for a book thief, have you seen one?”

“What kind of book thief do you need?”

“One that will not stumble and fall at the first hurdle of course.”

“There’s one right here in the dark somewhere, a real hard-pan of delight,” said the voice of the shadow rustling paper and pretending to be busy.

“Good, wrap it up in brown paper and deliver soon as possible.”
