Schade! Auch wenn wir uns nicht allzu oft über den Weg liefen (und irgendwann am Anfang gar eine kleine Auseinandersetzung hatten), teile ich viele deiner Ansichten (hat mich sehr gefreut, dich auf SteemFest 3 persönlich kennenzulernen).
Ich fühle, dass ich mit dir eine Unterstützerin verliere, die, so wie ich, ebenfalls versucht hat, die Interessen derjenigen zu vertreten, die den Wert einer Plattform in aktiven Usern und gutem Content messen!
Was ich priorisieren würde, schrieb ich in meiner "STEEM-Vision". Vielleicht siehst du das ja ähnlich?

Um ehrlich zu sein, kann ich mir einen endgültigen Abschied deinerseits kaum vorstellen, zu viel Zeit und Engagement hast du bereits investiert (ja, ich sehe nicht nur Menschen, die viel Geld irgendwo reinstecken, als "Investoren"). Mach doch einfach eine erholsame Pause, um etwas Abstand zu gewinnen ... und komm dann wieder zurück ... :)

Servus @jaki01! Vielen lieben Dank für Deinen Kommentar und auch den Link zu Deinem (sehr gelungenen!) Artikel. Wir teilen hier mal wieder viele Ansichten, und dieser Satz hat mir besonders gut gefallen:

Newcomers should feel comfortable here and soon consider our blockchain as their new 'virtual home'.

Diese aktuelle Grafik von @arcange aus seinen Steem Statistiken vom 25.5.2019 belegt leider, dass Steem schon seit sehr langer Zeit ein Retention Problem hat.

Es ist schade, dass wir alle uns vermutlich zu lange auf Steemit, Inc verlassen haben, und nicht schon früher (so wie es jetzt passiert) mehr Dinge selbst umgesetzt haben. Möglicherweise ist es nun zu spät, da die Marke Steem bereits extrem gelitten hat und im gesamten Crypto Markt einfach überhaupt keine Lobby mehr hat. Selbst viele der großen Believer der ersten Stunde haben aufgegeben und widmen sich nun neuen Projekten.

Ich wünsche Euch allen von Herzen, dass Ihr das Ruder noch einmal herumreißen könnt. In der Tat habe ich hier viel Zeit investiert, aber ich wurde ja auch fürstlich dafür entlohnt, insofern war das wohl ein Win Win für alle Beteiligten :-) Ein Comeback wird's nicht geben, da ich schon mit einem Fuß im nächsten Projekt stecke, aber ich werde vermutlich trotzdem immer mal wieder heimlich rein schauen und gucken wie es so läuft.

I'm sorry that you and some other older Steemians were made promises that have not been kept.

But for me but I'm very happy after 15 months on Steem earning between $1-10 for posts and seeing amazing functionality like SteemPeak, Partiko, Steem Engine, Steem Keychain, Nitrous, MIRA, Hivemind, Steem Monsters, Next Colony etc etc.
I see that distribution of Steem is gradually becoming less concentrated and my share is increasing.

Maybe Ned promised too much.

But I'm pretty impressed with what so many groups are achieving, includng Steemit Inc under Eli's direction. What they've achieved since the reorg and cutbacks is nothing short of amazing.

I hope you return some day like Obi Wan or Luke Skywalker. Not that I'm suggesting that return should precede your spectacular death. :-)

Hahaha, I bet you're doing well in the #funny section :-D

You're totally right: there's a lot of developments in the pipeline, and I also touched on that in my post. It may be a great basis for a new beginning.

It's evident that Steem would need a complete makeover in order to succeed, especially with regards to governance. It would also need a huge portion of lobbying in order to reshape the brand perception in the crypto market. Right now most people are smiling at Steem but not taking it seriously as a potential investment. Same happens with media, there is basically zero coverage.

But well you guys know all that already :-)

There's a lack of engagement now and as you said in another comment, the platform only benefits the few now which in a way it always has but this is becoming more pronounced.

The possibility of of it empowering especially the people who needed a boost is what brought me here along with the chance to read great content which has also diminished. There are too many people 'up their own arses' and suggested changes will only make the problem of reward distribution skew even further in the direction of the ever increasingly powerful.

I wish you every happiness and hope you get well soon...I hear jigsaws are pretty safe ;-)

Finally, don't forget that everything we experience is an instantly temporary state.

There will still be a beer here in Bangkok with your name on it.

Nathen! Your comments have always put a smile on my face, and you know that. Big times!

Too many have opted for short term gain instead of long term invest here, and that's why the whole ecosystem doesn't work anymore. There's not enough incentives to produce and reward good content, and those who could make a difference don't want to since they highly benefit from the situation as it is.

Talking about engagement: I don't think I have ever received more comments on any of my articles than on this one here, haha. I guess that's quite characteristical.

Well they've all left for a reason. I've been thinking about that step for a while now. A couple of statements from Steemit, Inc were the determining factor that finally convinced me to go.

Steem is a great idea, but as it is designed today only a handful of people are efectively benefiting from it. I just don't want to support that any longer.

The foot is doing much better. Still green and blue, haha I guess I'll be back in the water by next week.

Sure you can. I slightly touched on it in the first paragraph of my blog post.
Only a handful of people are efectively benefiting from the system as it is designed now. Since there are no signs that this is going to change at any time, I don't want to support that /them any longer. I've been here for almost three years and have seen how this place changed over time.

You can try to stay positive and motivate people, but then you get to the point where you don't believe yourself anymore. So here I am, ready for some new adventures 🙃

I do understand that sentiment, and the way the system is designed is a reality.

But... what if communities and/or SMTs are coming? Would you not be the perfect person to be the moderator for a SURF community / token?

If I may ask, will you be joining another project instead or that's not relevant to your decision?

Aww, shame. Im still not sure that leaving is the best choice honestly.

What i dont understand is why you dont just start a bot service and run for witness? Im sure @therealwolf, @themarkymark or a few others could help you set up everything you need.

A lot of people know you here and i know you did plenty good for the platform.
A top witness makes 35k a year which i think you could reach fairly easily.

Why leave when you can make plenty of money from the greed of others?

And you have a lot of advantage over the other bot owners. Fyrst looks like fat Thor from Avengers End Game. Marky and Wolfie dont really show their face.

Its actually a funny thing that those that care the most arent those that we are left with. Those that care the most unfortunately, eventually leave not being able to stomach it any more....

Hehe, that's an interesting idea. If I was here for the money, it could indeed be an option.

What got me really excited about Steem was its original vision of giving value back to those who create value. It was a true game changer, able to turn the whole attention economy upside down. But now Steem has just become like all the other centralized networks, where a few win and many lose.

Back in 2016 and early 2017 there was a true competition for rewards between content creators, and everybody was truly aiming to become the very best version of themselves. Man, THAT very moment when a whale stopped by and voted your content - what a thrill! Now you can just buy the votes and the attention, and the whole game has completely lost its sexiness.

Time to move on and go live a new sexy adventure.

My business in real life is doing pretty well and I'll be focussing on that now. Let's see if I can become as passionate about it as I was as a content creator :-)

@surfermarly I don't blame you which is why I would like to fork this chain. The only thing is how to prevent history from repeating itself. For the time being, I will try to work on improving our ecosystem to fight abuse.

I am with you about giving value to the people. I want to be sure it is to those that are putting in the work. Not just fat cats with money to throw around buying their way onto Trending everyday. That's not the vision I want to build on for too long.

I changed "flying donkeys" for "surfing donkeys" then for the only reason that the username @flyingdonkeys was already taken on Instagram, hehe

It is really unfortunate that it had to come to this (great content creators leaving steemit) but I agree with you, it is not the same place like it was 2016 when you had to create great content in order to receive up votes. I started to power down a few month ago for exactly the same reason.

I am interested to find out if MEOS will be better once / if it comes out and hope to meet you there!

you should check out somee social you might be surprised at what they are doing and you can be an early adopter on a platform that is already in beta and about to go full ham in a couple months rewards just went live and next will be add revenue this p[latform is designed for content creators to make real money from 1 place and your 1 post on the platform can be published on many other social media platforms including steemit

im making 10 times more money on that platform than i am on steemit and im posting to a bunch of other platforms at the same time and their add revenue hasnt even gone live yet the money i am making is just from upvotes . therse not many people yet because its still in beta but once ad revenue kicks in and tests out in beta it will scale fast because this platform is designed for content producers to make serious money. for example depending on how many coins you stake you get 10% to 80% of the ad revenue. if you stake 125,000 coin you will get the 80% and you will have choice of the ads that align with your morals and beliefs. this isnt even counting the money you make from people upvoting your content and you upvoting others you have to power up coin just like steem in order to have more influence with votes but the cool thing right now is if you upvote yourself you lose your money that you get from people that upvoted you to eliminate the whales from just upvoting themselves everyday

That's a shame. You know about share2steem, right?

I only just discovered this post after reading the one with the poll for Dreams of the Ocean. I am shocked and sad to see you go. To me you were one of the 'real' ones from the beginning.
But I understand, if your heart is elsewhere and with another project, you should put all your time and energy there and not divide it.

The good news is that there are different websites we can post to. Yes, there is Steemit, Busy, Dtube, etc, which stems from Steem.

Alternatives

But there is also some other websites like Steem out there as well. I copy and paste my posts on Steem to places like Weku, Bear Shares, Smoke, Dream Real, and Serey.
