Sekai no Owari (also known as End of the World) is a Japanese rock band, originating from Tokyo. The band was formed in 2005 and has four members: Nakajin, Fukase, Saori and DJ Love.

Since their debut they have released 3 albums and various singles and are currently considered to be one of the biggest music acts from Japan. Their live performances and concerts are often being compared with music festivals such as tomorrowland and ultra music festival. The foursome’s biggest hits to date include “RPG” (which topped Billboard's Japan Hot 100), “SOS,” “Dragon Night” and “Mr. Heartache.” The latter was co-produced by Owl City, who featured the group on his own song, “Tokyo.”

I had only heard of them recently and today I finally checked out the music video of one of their songs,「サザンカ」. It released 3 days ago and I actually liked it quite a lot. I haven't had a lot of exposure to Japanese music, other than the Japanese versions of Korean songs and Sukiyaki, so I was quite surprised. I really liked the dramatic music and angsty feel of the song. I looked up the english translations of the song and their message seems really nice.

I like how they talk about their own struggles that so many of the youth can relate too. I also really like the story of their own lives and how much music has impacted and shaped them. In fact, the first piece of information I read about them was that their vocalist, Fukase, chose the name of their group as 'End of the World' because he says once you’ve experienced rock bottom or the End of the World, you have to find a way to go up.

Check out the MV of their new song below!
