Prayer against evil: Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore; those who are loyal have vanished. Psalm 12:1

Psalm 12 is a prayer for help against the evil in the world, but this evil teaches us the Bible, is not an ontological evil that underlies creation but rather a lack in men of the good of God. The Psalm with a short song exposes the problem of sin in men.
The Book of Psalms, like all the sapiential books, teaches us that men are faced with two paths and have to choose, one is an edifying path towards the divine blessings, and the other is a break with the wisdom and fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion). When men sin they only create deceit, suffering, and go against the common sense of things, that is why sin destroys the relationship with the highest perfection in the universe, that is God: "But your iniquities have separated you from God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear", Isaiah 59:2.
The Psalm then begins by invoking God's action against error:
"Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts" Psalm 12:1-2.
And against this, the Psalm continues with an oracle of God, the Lord is merciful, faithful, frees the oppressed and punishes the oppressors:
"´Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,´ says the LORD.
´I will protect them from those who malign them.´
And the words of the LORD are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold refined seven times" Psalm 12:5-6.
The Psalm with this response from God reminds us that the history of man in the Bible is a demonstration that the will of God acts to achieve a mysterious plan, but with a clear purpose, to bless those who fear God and punish the proud:
"You, LORD, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race" Psalm 12:7-8.
The Lord blesses us with his wisdom and his word but it is up to us to accept it or not.
