Prayer in difficult times: You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Psalm 86:5

The Bible teaches us to pray in difficult times, when oppression and injustice prevail, and to trust in God, who helps those who wait in his mercy (compassion, gentleness, kindness) and righteousness. And an example of this spiritual teaching is David's prayer in Psalm 86; David was always a person filled with the fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion) and the Lord always responded to this love of David with fidelity, protecting him from all his enemies and leading him to victory.
Like King David, we also have to learn to pray to grow spiritually in our relationship with the Lord, praying strengthens us spiritually. To pray without ceasing and never give up, this is the message of the Psalm, because God always listens to his children, and especially to those who approach him with a prepared heart, he who does not ask does not receive.
Knowing how to ask the Lord is a powerful spiritual tool that the Sacred Scriptures puts within our reach, when our strength is not enough and we need that help and that perfect love (Agape) that comes from on high. We must never forget that the gift of faith can perform true miracles in times of need, God in his infinite wisdom and perseverance provides those who love him, God exalts the humble and needy and brings down the mighty.
This is how Psalm 86 begins, a beautiful plea addressed to God to obtain his favor:
"Hear me, LORD, and answer me,
for I am poor and needy.
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you;
save your servant who trusts in you.
You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord,
for I call to you all day long.
Bring joy to your servant, Lord,
for I put my trust in you.
You, Lord, are forgiving and good,
abounding in love to all who call to you.
Hear my prayer, LORD;
listen to my cry for mercy.
When I am in distress, I call to you,
because you answer me" Psalm 86:1-7.
