The prayer of Hezekiah: Deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, LORD, are God. 2 Kings 19:19

The prayer of Hezekiah is a prayer to God that this king made at the most difficult moment of his life, when the tyrant Sennacherib, ruler of the Assyrian empire, laid siege to the city of Jerusalem.
The Assyrian Empire was famous for its cruelty and its ruthless way of acting, the ruler of Assyria had already destroyed the Kingdom of Israel with its capital Samaria, deporting its entire population; and Sennacherib had decided that the moment to destroy the Kingdom of Judah had also come.
But Hezekiah, King of Judah, was a determined and God-fearing man, and he trusted more in the faithfulness of God than in the weapons of Sennacherib. Hezekiah was an example of how to act in critical moments, the King did not let himself be carried away by fear and desperation but stood firm in a difficult situation. Hezekiah showed with his actions and his prayer to God the truth of a spiritual teaching: "Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe" Proverbs 29:25.
And not only that, but Hezekiah also looked for the correct people, Hezekiah turned to the prophet Isaiah, who prophesied a great victory. Hezekiah emulated his ancestor David in everything, who defeated Goliath with a stone thrown from a slingshot. The spiritual gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, stability, and equanimity) can achieve true miracles.
The Second Book of Kings tells the prayer of Hezekiah requesting God's protection:
"Give ear, LORD, and hear; open your eyes, LORD, and see; listen to the words Sennacherib has sent to ridicule the living God.
It is true, LORD, that the Assyrian kings have laid waste these nations and their lands. They have thrown their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods but only wood and stone, fashioned by human hands. Now, LORD, our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you alone, LORD, are God" 2 Kings 19:16-19.
