I’m awake, I’m awake
If you’re a church folk
You must have heard this phrase several times
Especially after prayers.
People often doze off in church
The realisation of which can make you ashamed
But when the need to pray is stirred up
And you don’t know exactly what to pray about,
Then pray in the spirit
The spirit helps us to pray
However I have noticed that when the prayer “catches” you,
You start to pace about
You move up and down
You develop a route in the process
That route is a prayer route.
When we stay in that prayer route
Sleep is always far from our eyes.
Prayers become an active process rather than being passive
The potential to pray becomes activated.
Prayer is a deliberate act
A prayer route keeps you aware in prayers
It helps you remove praying in your understanding
It makes you master how to multi task
So you can go about your routine and still pray
It keeps you exercised at the end of prayers
Your spirit is edified and your body too.
So when next you have to pray,
Stir up your spirit enough to develop a prayer route
Because apart from the multiple benefits,
You don’t have to say: I’m awake I’m awake anymore.
See you at the top.
