Precious Metals and Crypto Currency

This is my first post on Steemit so bear with me. I must confess. I, am a silver stacker. I am working extra shifts now as I would like to purchase some gold now as I only have 0.25 ounces at this time. Laughable right? I have heard up to 25% of Americans don't have a dollar saved and live off their credit cards just keeping up with paying just the interest. Sound familiar Washington?! So I take heart with what I am doing with physical acquisition of metals. Now enters the bull market of crypto currency. When I ponder the rise of Bitcoin I get drawn back to the initial news report on MSM and recall hearing a commentator say " I bought some." Now I wonder, " how much?" Sigh. I don't understand the mechanics of the blockchain and what causes a digital currency such as this to gain or retain value. I now see there more crypto currencies seemingly arriving daily. I work in the medical field so even talking to people about precious metals as a store of value draws blank stares. They just don't see what is coming.
I am here to ask for help. Maybe this isn't the place.
This is a new platform to me as well with the main reason being here because I didn't have to fork over money as I am pretty tight with money. Yes, I am one of those people who open their car door to pick up change at the drive thru to pay for fast food. But I digress as Greg Hunter from usawatchdog.com likes to say.
Thank you for giving me the chance to ramble my situation to you.
Sincerely,

Cmore

Nice to see fellow newbies out there! I myself am slowly starting to take this field of cryptocurrency more seriously and learn more about investing strategies, etc. I've heard of investing in precious metals and remember the year when gold skyrocketed in the face of recession and economic doomsayer reports. Crazy field this can be, huh? Anyways, thanks for the post and looking forward to reading more!
