The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has announced that Egyptian international Mohamed Salah will win the BBC's 2017 African Player of the Year award.

The Egyptian Pharaoh, who contributed to Egypt's return to the World Cup in 2018, has been absent since 1990 in the vote against Senegalese Sadio Mani, Nigerian Victor Mosis, Gabuni Obamyang and Guinean Nabi Keita.

Salah took first place, Sadio Mani came in second, Obamyang third, Victor Musis fourth and finally fifth in Nabi Keita.

The BBC has already announced the final names and the start of voting on November 11 to choose the 2017 African Footballer of the Year.

It is worth mentioning that the Englishman Leicester City's Riyad Mehrez is the final winner of the award in 2017, and the award will continue for the second consecutive year.
