Kevin De Bruyne believes he has found the perfect coach for his game in Pep Guardiola.
De Bruyne signed for Manchester City in 2015 and was followed through the door a year later by the manager, who has helped the playmaker take his game to another level and establish himself as one of the best players in world football.
While the Belgian is seen as the brain of a team that has won the last two Premier League titles with his ability to see and execute plays that leave opponents stranded, his work on the pitch does not need much explaining with Guardiola.
According to De Bruyne, the pair do not speak too often about the intricacies of games because the manager understands that the 28-year-old will not have a problem with whatever he has to do.
"What is handy for me is I think I've found the coach who has the same philosophy that I have in my mind," he said.
"Basically it is very simple. I don't think I have a lot of conversations with Pep in regard to playing or what he asks me to do. He gives me a lot of freedom and understands that whatever he asks of the team or me personally I will do it, I don't question it.
"If something is going on I will tell it. Sometimes I am too honest but I think people appreciate it also. They know I will be the first in the team who will fight more than other players with the qualities that I have, but in my mind I need to show it to set an example for everybody and I think we are on the same wavelength together."
