I'd like to share a very quick post about growing your own....
Whilst having a plentiful supply of fresh food close to hand is essential in order to be less reliant on supermarkets etc, one should never put all of their eggs in one basket:
I've recently been growing items that I can plant in other locations such as friends and families gardens and the countryside. Below is a Sloe sapling that I intend to replant in the wild sometime soon:
Over the comings months and years, I'm hoping to plant a variety of fruit bushes in a number of locations within my local area that will enable me to be able to forage in a few years time. It's like making an investment that guaranteed to 'grow' over time!
For those who don't know what sloes are, they're like a tiny plum (indeed they're within the same family of fruit). However, they are one of the most tart, mouth drying things that you'll ever likely eat (not recommended!!) However, they can be used in alcoholic beverages such as sloe gin/vodka (absolutely delicious!!!) and thereby be a valuable commodity to trade with others!
This sounds like a great idea. However, make sure that you don't get caught doing this because, since it's sensible, it's probably illegal. They might say that it's an invasive species. I'd like to know how this goes.
