When the Black Plague becomes Airborne

in prepper •  7 years ago  (edited)

Today we all know that the plague is contracted by flea bites...but what happens when it becomes airborne?

Lately I have been hearing in the news that it is airborne once again. I wanted to make a post on how to make Thieves Oil, the original way I had learned it, because it can help prevent contracting this disease...and while I was looking online to find out how far it has spread I found this article from History.com back in 2014. It is a very good read if you are interested.

"The so-called Black Death arrived in Britain from central Asia in the autumn of 1348. Believed to be bubonic plague, spread by infected fleas carried on rats, the disease swept through Europe over the better part of the next year. One of history’s most devastating epidemics, it killed an estimated 75 million people, including six in every 10 Londoners. Now, analysis of skeletal remains found by construction workers digging railway tunnels in central London has led scientists to a stunning new conclusion: The Black Death was not transmitted through flea bites at all, but was an airborne plague spread through the coughs, sneezes and breath of infected human victims."

Next I went looking on youtube to see if there were any videos on how to make Thieves Oil (because I am in beading mode and don't have time to do a full post on how) and I found one. I am not sure if everyone knows the story, but the gist of it is that in Europe in the 1300s as the plague was heaviest...a group of thieves was robbing the dead bodies, yet did not get ill. They were able to avoid the illness with an infused oil blend. Today we call the oil Thieves.

Her recipe is missing one ingredient, which is 20 drops of Thyme...but aside from that, it is the same recipe we have used for many years.

Thieves is for external use only, and if the plague is airborne (as I hear it is), it is best used by adding drops to a face mask so it cleanses the air as one breaths.

It can be added to a pot of steaming water to cleanse a room...or a warm vaporizer.

It can be diluted in rubbing alcohol and put in a spray bottle to disinfect surfaces...

I do not recommend using it directly on the skin, but if you do...same as always, 20 drops per oz of carrier oil.

Edit Here is what the CDC has on the strain that is spreading today

Great info as always! I love Thieves oil. We use it around here, though I didn't know about sticking it in rubbing alcohol for a disinfectant! I need to get some oils now to make it :)

Yeah, it works well :) You can also put it in a diffuser necklace to help prevent regular colds and flu, or most airborne illnesses...

Oo I have a diffuser necklace at the camper I can put it in!

Great topic and good solutions!

Thanks Weetree :) If we can remove that fear monster and share ways to help prevent things, that is great!
