"COPS" is Educational

I've been hanging out with my foster dog, staying in out of the humidity and watching the TV show "COPS". I like the show for a couple reasons. First, I find it interesting to see how they've changed how they work. In earlier episodes the officers talk about how rewarding it is to build trust and positive relationships with the citizens and in the newer ones there's none of that kind of talk. What you do see are (in the larger cities) more paramilitary behavior more in line with an occupying force. There's very little small talk, people are arrested for "failing to identify upon demand", the male officers all have the more military style haircuts, their uniforms are khaki or Olive Drab green and their tactics have changed from wanting to help to taking out the bad guys.

Yes, I am aware that they only show the cops interacting with alleged criminals, what I am talking about is the shift in how the police do that. Their attitudes towards these alleged criminals. There was one episode, must have been right after tasers came into use, where a "perp" had tried pull a female officer off his buddy and she was all wound up, she kept yelling something about wanting to tase him. Her words, tone of voice and attitude sounded like she angry he'd laid hands on her and she just had to use her new toy. That's not right and doesn't give me a good feeling about interacting with the police.

The United States military is forbidden from carrying any weapons on US soil, it helps prevent a military coup. They don't need to, now, the police have been buying old military equipment for years. If you don't believe me or if you do and are concerned about what your local lawenforcement agency has, check this link out: http://www.shtfplan.com/militarization-by-county-via-the-law-enforcement-support-office?appSession=889117888646776&cbSearchAgain=true&AppKey=36701000b255adcfe6ca4b13a8a4
You might be truly shocked (frightened?) at what they have.

Secondly, I just LOVE watching these people trying to lie their ways out of trouble. The cop finds drugs in someone's wallet and these people are saying it's not theirs! Or, more telling, they sit there totally convinced whatever they've been caught for isn't their fault, even if the cop saw them do it or the cameras caught it. Not their fault, the cops are lying. The people seem to honestly believe they are being wronged by the police. On second thought, that's the scariest part....
