To a large extent prepping is just thinking months (or years) ahead when shopping and not just days ahead. If one shops like an investment, then prepping should actually cost less than day-to-day living.

Indeed. The mental aspect of it is a large part, but it's something you grow into and become adjusted to. It doesn't happen off the bat normally.

I was actually thinking of the economic aspect of prepping. When you buy in bulk and store things, you are making an investment. So, you get the discount from the bulk purchase and have a small hedge against inflation.
