What would people rather have?

Another thing I've found missing from the discourse about the immunity ruling re: official acts is what rule people actually wanted in place of the one we've been operating under for 200+ years.

I know that I would be fine if every president spent his every waking moment being charged with murder and terrorism and every other crime that matches the behavior they engage in every day, but I know damn well that most of the people whining about this don't actually want that.

So what do you actually want, if not this? If the President isn't immune from criminal liability, but you clearly don't want him charged every single time he commits a crime, then what do you actually want?

What's a rule that gets Trump rung up for election interference (which you plainly do want) but doesn't get Obama or Biden rung up for wanton murder and mayhem (which you plainly don't want)?
