Hello again, this time I will write about the theme of the dance experience itself, based on what I have seen, felt and also talked with many milongueros and milongueras, the question is, what is it that you want to dance?
For those of us who started as a leader, there is always the question of whether having a lot of figure resources is more important than aspects such as a good hug, walking or having a simpler and less "pretentious" dance (so to speak).
At first I was quite frustrated to feel that the dances (and experiences) he offered to the women with whom he danced were not ideal because I saw that he had a less flat dance in terms of the variants that I could perform within a batch, which is why, I devoted myself to observe, talk and ask, about what they considered to be a good dance experience for them.
I was quite surprised, because in the end it's quite simple, a comfortable hug, a good flow with the music and a good attitude is more than enough to provide an experience that will please whoever you dance with (and what for me, all those elements together, form the so-called "connection").
I must also say, that generating a good hug, walking and musicality, takes time and practice, personally, this past year, I focus on it (and yet I feel that I still have a lot to learn), because they also influence aspects of your personal life, your security, clarity, feelings, if you are going through times of stress, which affects, at certain levels, in our way of dancing.
Tip for beginners
Once you handle the fundamental and basic aspects of Tango, the figures are much easier (even if we can invent some of our own), so don't get frustrated by not knowing many at first, enjoy a good walk, worry about your posture and embrace, listen to a lot of tango, the rest will give you the effort, practice and time.
A milonguero hug, see you on the dance floor!
