On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the maiden Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award event in Mumbai. PM Modi received the first Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award.
After accepting the honour, the Prime Minister became emotional and stated that Lata Mangeshkar was like an older sister to her.
PM Modi dedicated the award to all of his people, stating that when the honour is named after an elder sister, such as Lata Didi, it represents her oneness and affection for him. As a result, he has no choice but to accept it.
Asha Bhosle, the legendary singer, paid tribute to her sister, Lata Mangeshkar, by humming the tune of the song ‘Aayega Aanewala.’
According to a statement issued by the family and the Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Smruti Pratishthan charity foundation, the award was established in memory of Lata Mangeshkar and would be granted every year to a person for exceptional service to nation-building.
In addition, April 24 commemorates the 80th anniversary of the death of the singing legend’s father, Master Deenanath Mangeshkar.
Veteran actresses Asha Parekh and Jackie Shroff were also honoured with Master Deenanath Puraskar (special honour) for their “dedicated efforts in the realm of cinema.” Rahul Deshpande received the Master Deenanath Puraskar for Indian music, while the play “Sanjay Chaya” received the prize for finest theatre.
Subhash Desai, a Maharashtra Cabinet member and Shiv Sena leader, had earlier seen the PM at the airport. Aaditya Thackeray was also present as protocol minister to greet the Prime Minister in Mumbai.
