Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stated on Sunday that democratic leadership and decision-making, rather than military control, are the most significant factors for a country's prosperity.
"Whenever our country was not under direct or indirect military rule, it did not register its development and prosperity." "The people of the country must understand this," she stated.
This was said by the premier during her introduction statement at the 8th meeting of the National Training Council, which was held at her official house Ganabhaban.
She stated as while the political leadership was in power, progress in all sectors would be secured.
"At the very least, I can claim that political decisions drove the country's unprecedented development from 2009 to 2023," she added.
Hasina stated that her government has taken and implemented the ideas and values of independence in its administration.
"We are seeing results. We have achieved the designation of developing country as a result of this approach," she explained.
She urged everyone to keep the momentum of growth and democracy going for future generations' benefit.
"We have to keep our eyes particularly on this matter," she remarked.

The Awami League on Saturday announced its mayoral candidates for elections to five city corporations – Gazipur, Khulna, Barisal, Rajshahi and Sylhet.
The ruling party nominated Talukder Abdul Khaleque for Khulna City Corporation, Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury for Sylhet City Corporation, Khairuzzaman Liton for Rajshahi City Corporation, Abul Khair Abdullah alias Khokon Serniabat for Barisal City Corporation and Azmat Ullah Khan for Gazipur City Corporation.
The Awami League Local Government Representative Nomination Board, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, picked the candidates for the mayoral race in the upcoming elections.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the names while talking to journalists in front of Ganabhaban.
A total of 41 aspirants from the ruling Awami League on Wednesday collected nomination papers for elections to the five city corporations.
Seventeen candidates collected nomination papers for Gazipur City Corporation, four for Khulna, seven for Barisal, 10 for Sylhet and three for Rajshahi.
The ruling Awami League started distributing nomination forms on Sunday and continued until Wednesday.
The Election Commission announced the schedule for the elections to the five city corporations on April 3.
The election to the Gazipur City Corporation will be held on May 25, while in Khulna and Barisal on June 12, and in Rajshahi and Sylhet on June 21.
