Batman's helmet. Printing to a 3D printer

in printer •  7 years ago

Hello! I want to tell you a little about my hobby.

I have a self-assembled 3D printer. Here it is, in person

Boring everyday evenings I like to print, collect and paint figures from films and games.

Today I'll tell you how Batman's helmet did. Not that I'm a fan of the DC universe (Marvel to me somehow closer), but I decided to do it.

On all known site Thingiverse has found modelku and it was raced ...

Print the black PLA. The layer is 0.1 mm thick. Because Printer in the process of dopilivaniya and settings - print slowly - 40 mm / s. The printing took about 5 hours.

In the mouth and eyes (if the helmet has a mouth and eyes), you can observe the support that is needed to print overhanging parts.

Gently remove all unnecessary, incidentally, cleaning up the jambs of the press.

Next is a tedious process of piling and shurting with a gradual reduction in the granularity of the sandpaper.

Unfortunately, the photo of the helmet after this process forgot to do.

Then we paint. I use aerosol enamel (in a conventional can). Painted in two layers.

Looks nice, you can put on the shelf. But we will go further and try to give the helmet a little realism.

First we put the helmet damage with a coarse-grained sandpaper and a small triangular nadfile. Then we take the usual silver from the hozmag and a brush from the stationery and by the method of a dry brush imitate the abrasion of the paint to the metal (we slightly dip the paintbrush into the paint, we almost erase everything about the paper and lightly apply it to the helmet).

The result on the photo below. The height of the model is about 5 cm.
