3d printed pirate dagger as requested by Junior!

Mini Me asked (demanded) today to print something for him. He gave me detailed instructions outlining that it should be a Sword and Pirate related. At the end we agreed to print a little dagger instead :)

The design has been made in Fusion360 and was straight forward I just had to draw a few curved lines and place in a pirate skull .svg I found using google.

After the sketch has been extruded I just applied some bevel in order to get a smooth transition from the grip to the blade.

Apply some fillets

Since there was no way I could convince my son to wait until tomorrow for the print, I checked the part one last time and sent the .stl file to my 3d printing slicer (Slic3r).

Final check in in Fusion.

Once the slicer did the work I put the sd card with the file into my 3d printer (Prusa i3 MK2s) and started the print.

After nearly 2,5 hours the dagger was complete. Just right on time before my son went to bed. He is very happy with the result and took it with him to bed :)

If you think about buying a 3d printer but still have doubts than I hope these kind of posts help you to make a decision. I am sure you won't regret the investment once you designed and printed your first unique model.
