A different take on privacy

in privacy •  7 years ago

As important as privacy is, today many people don't care enough.

This is because many of them don't think about the underlying implications, because these are not clear enough for them.
So I've thought about different argument for privacy:

Simply say, the personal data that is collected on them has direct monetary value.
What if, say most of the biggest companies Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Amazon all make their money with our data, we give them for free?
Would you still don't care if you knew, that Facebook isn't free but stealing your data, worth 4 dollars?

The situation changes when, people who don't care about privacy, realise they are giving money away.
