"I spend $500 dollars and get a fu*king WordPress with a free template." I was furious, at this point my blood was boiling. With little money coming in, and trying to build a independent record label; I felt that I was being cheated. The goal was to design the site and have a programmer build it for me. My ignorance was hysterical, but at that time I had no idea what I had gotten myself into. Pacing back and forth, I made the ultimate decision that "I will figure out how to program the website myself." Immediately my anger had transformed into a powerful force of curiosity. I had initiated the everlasting journey of learning how to program.
Since that evening, programming has been an evolving subject for me. The comprehension of how to build websites was just the beginning. As I started to build the site for the label, I found that my skills were lacking in the UX department. Accompanying that, the artists I was trying to get on board were not as serious as I had hoped for. Leaving me with having to do all the work for no extra income. I had to once again, make a decision whether the project was worth the time I was putting into it. Or, to pursue the possibility of learning how to build more elaborate websites. Disappointed and bitter I pondered it for a few more months trying to redesign the idea, but it became heavily distorted and confusing. I eventually canceled the label and started to focus on my education, which has benefited me immensely.
In the early stages of programming you come across many of these types of obstacles. The best advice I can give would be to make experimental projects to find where you fit in the picture. I had built a handful of sites, a javascript based brick game, some bash scripts, only to find that I would like to explore Android development. Thankfully the Internet provides all the necessary tools to gain a strong foundation from like-minded people. One that I highly recommend is Treehouse because they provide courses in multiple languages with videos, interactive challenges, and quizzes. If you are interested in becoming a programmer, they make the learning very easy to grasp for newcomers. In the meantime, keep on coding my brothers and sisters.

Similar road for me. I never intended to learn Wordpress but I did out of necessity. Now I can build a basic one in a day with some badass themes.

Isn't it funny how we end up learning these things? Sweet! I am actually considering building a WordPress soon, do you have any sites that you would recommend for themes?
