Building game from nothing seems like something impossible for one person. There is some stages every producer has to goes through:
- Game AI
- Game design
- Interaction design
- Game programming
- Level design
- Video game art
- Video game design
- Video game graphics
- Video game music
The most difficult thing is not to spend time on it, because we are armed with numerous engines and often free tools that will speed up our work (although creating an advanced game alone is also time-consuming and requires full-time work). The bigger problem, on the other hand, is to deal with each aspect separately. If you want to create a good game every part has to be done well. As we know, it is difficult to be a master in everything. A good programmer, often has deficiencies in modelling and vice versa. You have to be a kind of omnibus, or have a lot of knowledge and experience. This is how it looks at it at first glance
But there is a spark of hope - books and materials prepared by society. There are people who have participated in hundreds of projects, often completed individual projects from start to finish, and they are an example of how this can be done. Therefore, why should I be worse?

Please do. There is interest in a whole-picture approach to game developing. I don't know if such material exists (as you described it) under one book. Even a summarized outlined with sources would be of tremendous help and an excellent starting point. I would be very interested in reading it. @fcpway
