The promise of the Holy Spirit: I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel. Ezekiel 39:29

The Book of Ezekiel is a prophetic book of difficult interpretation, its spiritual visions resemble to a certain extent the descriptions made by the apostle John in his Book of Revelations. Ezekiel as spiritual sentinel of his people prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the Davidic dynasty due to the corruption of the kingdom, but it wasn't all bad news in this book.
Despite the fact that it is an atypical and extravagant book, Ezekiel's texts have left a deep echo in the Christian faith, his oracles anticipated the arrival of the Lord Jesus and the promise of the Holy Spirit. About the arrival of Lord Jesus, the prophet wrote: "I will make a covenant of peace with them, an everlasting covenant. I will give them their land and increase their numbers, and I will put my Temple among them forever. I will make my home among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people" Ezekiel 37:26-27. For Ezekiel, Jesus personified the new covenant between God and mankind.
And about the holy spirit, the prophet Ezekiel anticipated his arrival in the conclusion of his prophetic oracles, in a way similar to that of the prophet Joel, with these words Ezekiel prophesied the third person of the Holy Trinity: "I will no longer hide my face from them, for I will pour out my Spirit on the people of Israel, declares the Sovereign LORD" Ezekiel 39:29.
As a new Israel according to the spirit and not according to the flesh, with the birth of the Church at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4), the disciples received the gift of wisdom and the spiritual discernment of God, that is, they saw the face of the Lord to begin a new time, this was what Ezekiel prophesied, not to impose fear but to instruct people in that hope that builds and heals.
