Just like me, i know a lot of other steemians must have been thinking, why no messenger has been attached to steemit, looking at the fact that most of us here are used to the instagram/Facebook chatbox. Well, think no more, as one of our very own @therealwolf launches "steem messenger". I call it the watsapp of steemit. Its new, its huge, its exciting, its interesting, arranged by one of our very own @therealwolf.

I am particularly excited about this innovation because of the high level of security, and the fact that we can now connect with other steemit users through the blockchain, and that the messenger automatically encrypt and decrypt messages.
@therealwolf is renowned for making remarkable contributions steem blockchain, and he has taken a huge step this time around, putting a lot of hard/smart work together to birth one of the most important tool steem has ever seen "Steem Messanger"

I must say this, that "steem messenger" has not come to compete with steemit.chat, Discord, or any other steem tool out there. Just like there is enough space in the water for any amount of fish we can ever imagine, and birds never compete for space in the sky, there are thousands of steemit users round the world, and steem has the potential to house millions in the nearest future. So the idea is, chose whichever seem best for your success here on the steemit community

Features of Steem Messenger

• Messages can now be sent in plain text and encrypted format also

• Automatic lock - The messenger automatically locks itself after a period of 60minutes and can be customized

• Customized chat design

• Incoming messages are automatically fetched every (Customised, 10 default) Minutes

• New version notifications

• Notification for new messages

• You can blacklist steem users to block transfer spammers

• The keys can be derived from the password or imported directly into the messenger, then saved in an encrypted format locally on the computer, with an encryption password.

I must say this is great news for the promo-steem #DeleteFacebook #JoinSteemit Campaign, which was initiated by someone I consider as a role model here @Stephenkendal. In a world that is fast paced with instant messaging platforms, as a means of easy and fast communications, we can now communicate with brands and other important Individuals that would have taken us a lot of time and energy to locate. Also, Individuals can now gladly convert from Facebook to Steemit, missing absolutely nothing about facebook and without any regret

• Finally, the one I love most - You can hide all current or future messages from a particular user by blacklisting them

It is also interesting to know that you can add multiple accounts, even though only one account is allowed at a time.
