Chart showing number of references to #promo-steem since the tag started

Incredibly, this data shows a clear pattern in usage of the tag both in terms of number of posts, and the number of times it's been referenced.

The first ever post using the #promo-steem happened on the 14th August 2017. Since then, there have been over 7300 posts to the promo-steem tag. This graph shows a nice visual of the number of daily posts since it began.

Look at those lovely waves. A technical analyists wet dream if ever I saw one!

But that's not all. Thanks to the incredibly helpful data you can get off the blockchain, I've even managed to pull the number of times @promo-steem has been referenced in posts too.

Clever people (not like me, I mean really clever people) may be able to take this and extrapolate the growth of the tag over the next 6-12 months. (I'm looking at you @cryptocurator!)

All interesting stuff. Now can you imagine what this will look like in six months from now? Especially when we have the Steem Ambassador programme fully up and running with the guild online and working in it's beautifully decentralised and automated way? Now imagine what happens if we have plenty of delegated SP in the @steem-ambassador account, making sure that we can reward high quality promotional work really well?

That's what it's all about. We know that right now, we are at the beginning. We want the whales to recognise this, and realise that by delegating, they are helping themselves as well as a decentralised community of voluntaryists who are committed to Steemit and the STEEM blockchain!

Over the next few weeks, we will be launching a drive to bring this sort of investment in. What we are seeing is nothing short of phenomenal. Now we are intent on taking it to the next level.

How to run this fun query yourself...or get data on another tag

If you'd like to run this yourself, or maybe even get the data on other tags, you can use the following SQL query to get the data from SteemSQL:

SELECT CONVERT(DATE, created) as Date, COUNT(*) as Posts
FROM Comments
WHERE parent_author=' ' AND depth=0 and created >= '2017/01/01' AND created < '2018/03/08' and category in ('promo-steem')
GROUP BY CONVERT(DATE, created)
ORDER BY CONVERT(DATE, created) DESC

Just change the word 'promo-steem' to whatever tag you want (inside of the ' ' quotes) and you can run a search on pretty much any tag. You might also want to alter the date range too!
